MODULE 1

PORTFOLIO PREP 

In this module, we’ll get your portfolio pitch-ready. We’ll begin by exploring your target product categories and how they guide your portfolio edits. Then, you’ll assess your current portfolio, learn to curate and make simple edits that create a cohesive style.

Next, we’ll cover how to incorporate collections and review your hosting options.

Lastly, we’ll dive into the strategy of having two portfolios: a simple one-page version and a password-protected version with all your artwork.

MODULE 2

CLIENT RESEARCH 

In this module we will be learning all about how to find and connect to potential clients. We will start with setting up our client tracking document, and then gain a deeper understanding of the types of clients we will come across in the art licensing world.

Then, we will go through the different methods of finding potential clients, and how to find their contact information, including how to find someone’s email address when it is not publicly available.

At the end of this module you will be able to consistently find new client leads and quickly track down their contact info.

MODULE 3 

PITCHING 

In this module we will be covering everything you need to know about pitching your art. First we will go through the two main places you will be pitching your potential clients - submission forms and email, and exactly what you want to be including in each scenario, including supplemental portfolio pieces and/or pages.

Then we will move on to how to track our pitch emails, how to pitch when the traditional means are not available, and when and how to follow-up.

At the end of this module you will be able to confidently draft and send pitches out to potential clients and an easy to follow plan for how and when to follow-up.

MODULE 4 

PASSIVE PITCHING (MARKETING) 

In this module we will be learning a few simple marketing strategies that can be implemented in little pockets of time between creating art and actively pitching clients.

There are a lot of ways to get additional exposure and open ourselves up to other possible opportunities through simply getting our art in front of those who might be looking for it by using social platforms and marketplaces.

I call this module “Passive Pitching” because instead of thinking of it as “marketing ourselves” which can be super unappealing to some (myself included) I prefer to think about these practices as Passively pitching my art, I tend to enjoy it a lot more when it’s framed that way in my head.

By learning how to efficiently share your art on a few platforms, you can greatly maximize your exposure, creating more opportunities for your art to be found by those who want to license it.

MODULE 5

NEGOTIATIONS, CONTRACTS & PRICING 

Understanding contracts and pricing is essential to making a sustainable income as a licensed artist. This module breaks down the different types of licensing agreements, pricing strategies, and key contract terms you must know to protect your work.

You’ll also learn how to negotiate with confidence, ensuring you get paid what your art is worth while maintaining long-term client relationships.

We also learn about the things you want to be looking for in your client contracts, and how to successfully negotiate on your own behalf with your clients.

MODULE 6

MANAGING YOUR ART BUSINESS 

In this module we will learn the keys to how to manage and grow your art licensing business.  We will discuss how to continue the cycles of creating art and pitching to clients, but in a way that is attainable and fits into your daily lifestyle.

We will cover how to track your licenses and invoices, copyrighting your work, and how to deal with infringements.

We will also discuss the pros and cons of working with an art licensing agent as you continue to grow your licensing business.

MINDSET

How the heck did I figure it all out so fast?

Well, it wasn’t luck. Little did I know, but the previous 15 years of my life had been preparing me for this exact moment. Before making the switch to art licensing, I started my art career as an Art Director at a big Ad Agency in NYC.

I learned SO much, and after 4 years I was ready to do my own thing. From there I started & grew my own wedding illustration brand, eventually taking it to $1M a year in revenue. In the process I sold millions of dollars of art on Etsy and Shopify and became known as an innovator in my field ( my business was even featured in the New York Times!).
